University of Cumbria funded sport and exercise PhD opportunity
The University of Cumbria is currently offering a research studentship in sports and exercise sciences. Applications are invited for two separate titles, however, there is only a single competitive studentship on offer between the two projects.
The successful applicant for the full-time studentship will receive a stipend of £13,863 p.a. in addition to having tuition fees covered. The PhD studentship is available to new UK/EU applicants registering for a research degree in the relevant subject starting in April 2016. The closing date for applications is Friday 5 February 2016. Interviews will be during February 2016.
Full studentship applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis and can support part-time research; however, priority will be given to those applying for full-time study.
The University of Cumbria excelled in the UK-wide Research Excellence Framework (REF) with results announced in December 2014 revealing that 80% of our research is rated as internationally recognised quality or higher and 7% classified as ‘world-leading’.
Results in the 2015 Postgraduate Research Experience Survey show a high level of student satisfaction amongst our current research students (with a 71% response rate to the survey from Cumbria students compared to a 40.4% national average). For example, 91% of respondents felt that their ability to manage their own professional development had increased during the degree, compared to an 80% national average. The results reflect the quality of the research environment.
Lancaster University currently awards our research degrees.
In preparing and developing your application, we recommend you contact the project lead for more detailed discussion of your research proposal.
The proposed projects are listed below for information. For these sport science projects, a single studentship will be awarded to the most suitable applicant.
